Its flagship product, the Toniebox, is a screen-free, cube-shaped speaker that plays stories, songs, and educational content when children place colorful figurines called Tonies on top, pausing playback upon removal. Founded in 2013 by Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl, the company originated from the desire to provide digital-age storytelling without screens, fostering imagination through offline-accessible audio stored with up to 400 hours of capacity. tonies SE offers a wide range of licensed Tonies from brands like Disney, Universal, Peppa Pig, and Warner Bros., alongside accessories such as headphones, Creative Tonies for custom content, and decor items. Formerly Boxine GmbH and 468 SPAC I SE, tonies SE went public in 2021, becoming the world's largest interactive audio platform for kids, with over 10 million Tonieboxes and 134 million Tonies sold.
